Diode
. A nonlinear element passes a current that is not proportional to the voltage across it (i.e. it does not obey Ohm's Law). Note, though, that a small change in the voltage across a diode will still generate a small change in its current.

The Diode - W. Marshall Leach, Jr.
Diodes. Diodes are components that restrict the direction of flow of charge carries. A Diode allows an electric current to flow in one direction, but blocks it.
